The aim of this conference is to examine the status of pilgrimage research to date and to reduce gaps in social and human sciences, theology and tourism research. The aim is to scientifically explore the currently observable processes of change, particularly in foot pilgrimages, and also through suitable conversation partners and discussion
To make pilgrimage understandable to multipliers and practitioners.
So far, the following have agreed to or have been asked to give keynote speeches: Nurit Stadler (Jerusalem), Klaus Bieberstein (Bamberg), Hartmut Rosa (Jena), Michael N. Ebertz (Freiburg) and Stefan Huber (Bern). A call for papers will specifically address other scientists. The conference takes place as part of the “5. Donauwörther Pilgrim Days 2025” and is suitable as a training event for those interested in pilgrimages.
